I uploaded my ArrrrCamp 2011 slides to Speakerdeck. Click/tap through to see them.
On October 7, Roy will be giving a presentation on front-end meta languages and the Rails 3.1 asset pipeline at ArrrrCamp in Ghent.
80beans will be closed on Thursday June 2 and Friday June 3 because of Ascension Day. For critical matters we're available by e-mail or on our mobiles.
A few weeks ago Jeff came up with the idea for a search engine for static sites (like his own). Together with Robert & Ivana (who designed the logo) Tapir was developed. It indexes your blog posts based on an RSS-feed.
On March 3, Fronteers, the Dutch association of professional front-end developers, will visit 80beans for an evening of talks and drinks. Entrance is free, but you do need to register.
Vasilis van Gemert (Mirabeau) will speak about adaptive development and our own Roy Tomeij about front-end meta languages (talks will be in Dutch).
We're hosting the Amsterdam.rb New Years event this year. Well, actually this is the first time it will take place but we're hoping to start a tradition.
We will kick off the evening with a few short presentations. We will do two ourselves; Jeff will give a presentation on a subject he has yet to determine :-). Roy will give one on making front-end less painful for back-end developers (update: this presentation has been replaced). If you want to give a presentation, please send me an e-mail at thijs at 80beans.com.
Recently we started a new service called SliceCraft. We heard so many people complain about the (lack of) quality of overseas slicing companies (who turn a PSD into HTML/CSS) that we figured we could do better. On top of that we decided to enhance this kind of service by also providing HAML/SASS and image sprites.
After nearly two years of using our "temporary" website, the new one is finally done. Not that building it took that long; we just couldn't find the time to do it. Now it's here we will also commit ourselves to blog some more.
Lately we kept our eyes open for any office opportunities. Our current office of close to 60 square meters was getting too small to facilitate room for growth. By adding Ivana as the seventh member to our team we started to feel like sardines in a can. Luckily an office became available on the third floor in our building, and we quickly decided to take it. The new office is around 150 square meters and has a separate meeting room and a ping pong table. Last weekend we made the move, and we are fully operational again now. Drop by if you want to have a look!
